The Hillbilly Moon Explosion

O “The Hillbilly Moon Explosion” é formado por Oliver e Emanuela, que antes de formarem o grupo faziam parte de outros projetos musicais como o “Headhunters”, antiga banda de Oliver. Em 1998, gravaram uma demo com quatro faixas, que teve um relativo sucesso. Encontraram um baterista e um guitarrista para excursionar fazendo vários shows ao longo dos anos!

Depois dos Estados Unidos foi a vez de conquistar a Europa com muito sucesso. O segunda disco “Bourgeois Baby” foi lançado em 2004. Em 2010 foi a vez do álbum “Raw Deal” com hits como “Chick Rabit”, “Manic Lover” e “Brown Eyes Boy”.

O grupo se inspira no rockabilly e no blues em suas gravações e composições. Pitadas super retrôs que deixam as músicas mais divertidas e ao mesmo tempo românticas! A formação atual é Emanuela na guitarra base e vocal, Lucas na bateria, Oliver no baixo e vocal principal e James…

I’m sitting alone by a roaring fire, a glass of delicious ale nearly finished, and all the fairy lights twinkling throughout the house. The darkest nights are upon us, regular as clockwork the Earth swings around the Sun, now our planet’s northern axis points 23.5o away from our constantly shining star. The ivy strands bedecking the walls are dark green signs of the eternal forces of nature alive even in the darkness.

This time of night’s pre-eminence has much to teach us; the preciousness of daylight hours, with the amount of things we can do outside currently restricted to a few activities, such as chopping wood, a brief walk by the sea, a few minutes staring at the sky and the birds.

Today is Easter Sunday. Last night I stayed awake until dawn, celebrating a close friend’s birthday with a meal, a few drinks, and lots of talking through the night with some truly beautiful people.  Walking home in order to appreciate the quiet streets, as is my wont on the (now rare!) occasions I do this, I could see the sun about to rise, and the full moon about to set, opposite each other. The growing light behind me, pink clouds framing the moon’s pale disc ahead. The lunar eclipse of the night before, and the solar eclipse of a fortnight before that, had brought both heavenly orbs to the keen attention of many the planet’s humans.
